Create an abstract flower illustration with depth and sparkle!
Hi, this will be our first challenge. As you can see, for learning and relaxation sake, I am making our first forum challenge a graphic one.
Jessica is a creator of artist brushes. She also uses Photoshop, something not many of us actually have, but most of us do have something very similar, such as Photoshop Elements, or even another software that is capable of creating layers, shapes, lines, colors, and effects. Some of you might even use Gimp, or Pixlr online.
Whatever you have or use, this tutorial Jessica is demonstrating, can be adapted to what ever graphic editor you have available. The purpose here is to let Jessica show you what the steps to creating an element like this are, so you can take what you see and apply it to your own software to create a final result.
We are not looking for award winning graphics here, this is not the goal, the goal is to do the challenge, adapting it to you, and coming out with something you can use in your business if you choose, whether that be an actual graphic element, or the knowledge that you can do it! Practice makes perfect as the saying goes.
The palette we will use is similar but different. You can open up your own graphic editors, and play along with the video is you like, and when you are finished with your element, post it below in this thread so we can all see the result.
Don't be shy, no one is judging anyone, (those challenges come at another time
This is for both new and advanced folks in graphics, and we are all here to "MasterMind" with each other, even tho I prefer the term HELP!
Since it is Winter, I thought I would make the color choices a bit wider, to be less confining to the artistic process, so I chose similar colors, with added extras for more depth.
Here is your color Palette!

what about the brushes she is using... do we have to purchase them to do this, and will they work in any program
No Penny, the idea here is to follow her tutorial to get the steps to create, but you can use any brushes you have, you don't have to buy anything. Besides, I think her brushes are made for Photoshop (not elements) and Adobe Illustrator, so not sure they will even work in Elements at all. She has great textures tho.
Anyway, no, use whatever you guys already have!
